help new router =(

i had a netgear router four almost a year now and it blew up the other day
due to a thunderstorm =(.

so heres the problem i got a new netgear router the dg834 and i am able to connect etc...

... but heres the problem, i connect through windows then at any random time from when i connect to say about 20 minutes the connection just freezes and i stop receiving information... but then when i access my router settings again it starts receiving information again . It works that instant at which i type in the router ip in the adress bar, but then after a few mins same story...

this is really annoying as im not able to play online games. help would really be appreciated ^.^

i'd try:

-reset router
-ping router -t
-update firmware

-return router
-replace router

ok so im pinging my router -t and its not dropping. I updated the firmware has no difference ;/

there must be a way to fix this or should i take it back?

maybe the problem is not the router.
but take it back anyhow and say you would like a replacement.

then test it again.
