Bought a Telkom 99c sim card from Spar for my moms old Nokia 3510i. Had to show the teller my ID for RICA and that's all. I've put the sim card in and booted the phone but it's not showing any reception and I can't make calls. I've read all of the notes that came with the sim and it's unhelpful. What am I missing?

Pic for good memories.

My best guess is they botched the RICA process. You don't need to do anything special for a SIM to work in that phone.

Update:
I got signal when I drove up the road and the phone registered on the Telkom Network.

New problem:
I came home and now I have no reception
I have two options on the Menu: TelkomSA: International Roaming:
  • via TelkomSA
  • via Partners
I've tried a combination of that putting the phone's Network in Manual (vodacom disappears) and Automatic... but still no luck!

Any suggestions?

The device doesn't have the necessary radio to pickup all the frequencies?

Lol holy flashback batman.

Reminds of the closest I ever got to be abducted by aliens.

Back from Campus with a massive migraine I was lying on my bed with the lights off and all a sudden I hear a god awful and the entire room was lit up by a bright white light.
For second I thought actually thought I was about to be abducted by aliens but I soon realised it somebody was phoning me on my 3510i and my phone was on silent.
