I repair CRT tv's from home for 12 years now, but i want to move on to LCD & Plasma TV's.
Problem is i know nothing about LCD or Plasma, and what i would like to know is if anyone on the forum can guide me where to start?
Or maybe a link to a site where i can get help?

Thx & Regards.

What kind of repairs did you do on CRT's?

LCD's and Plasma's are usually considerably more complicated the CRT's

CellBell,
Did you find any worthwhile info ?
Even if not for free.
I am in the same boat as you mate !
regards Clanser

Hi Clanser, yes i did. But it's overseas manuals @ $49 each which is too expensive for me doing repairs in a small town.
Links coming up.

Hi Cellbell,
Will check them out thanks
I couldn't find any free info of any use,
Perhaps will try one of them to get some basics, this is nothing like usual tv repair.

Try one of these;

Hold down i button and Mute together.
Display+pic mode button

These are for 2 other JVC models.

Hmm, I don't have I or Pic Mode butons.

Only have
Red, Green, Yellow, Blue buttons with no obvious function.
TV/Video, Menu <>^V (& OK), Dispaly
Spatializer, Zoom
Auto VNR, AAC, Sytem Colour, System Sound
0-9, Return+, -/--
Channel+/-, Volume +/-, Channels Scan, Muting

Can one not insert pictures on this forum?

Try Display+pic mode button
There is a display button on your remote, and for the pic mode i will say try the coloured button with which you adjust your picture (color, brightness and contrast), on most tv's it's the green one.

My colour buttons do nothing. The up/down/left/right buttons control my colour, contrast etc but pressing them in combination with the Display button does zip. I tried Display + all other button combos and nothing.

Edit: I found the picture mode button, it's the yellow one. You only see the "picture mode" label when you lift up the little flap for dvd controls. Ok, working now. Have to press the picture mode button first followed by display. Strange, the yellow button only works when the little flap is open.

Was hoping there would be a degausse function in the menu. I'm getting blue/violet tinges in the display corners.

Now I need to figure out how to navigate the menu as the number keys just switches channels in the background.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated.

Seems like Wharfedale is a nightmare to repair! Would you believe that it's next to impossible to find a Line Output Transformer for my TV?

It seems to me that when a TV makes 3-4 years these LOPT's and IC's just disappear. (Obsolete)

I'm looking for a decently priced repair place to look at my 15" LG LCD that I use when I repair PC's.

Anyone have any direction for? Not CT or Jensen, Jensen wants R850-00 to look at it.
