Try CPUID.

It will give you a complete readout your PC's sensors : voltages, temperatures, fans speed. It's trusted and accurate.

Idle temps should be in the 30's-40's, and load temps shouldn't go over 65 degrees C max!

anyway who's reading should i trust more? core centre? real temp with TJ max at 105, idle calibration 0.0 ? or fan speed?

tj max with an e8400 is 100 as finally acknowledged by Intel

Don't leave voltages set to auto, leave them on manual.

Have you got D.O.T disabled in the BIOS?

what should i set my voltages as then? its currently on 1.120V on Auto..?

I find it weird that you can't get your chip stable at those low clocks. The fact that your 1 core temp never changes is common, the sensors do get stuck on these cpu's often.

haahah yes and i tried the 400bus speed to give me 3.6Ghz...I just get a checksum corruption error @ boot up WTF... the max was 3,2Ghz now, for how long can I run my CPU like that? day to day use or will its start to degrade?

Well I run mine at 3.6Ghz every day, I don't think you will get less than 3-4 years out of the cpu, by which time it will be a good powerful calculator in any case.

You can run your CPU overclocked for indefinite period of time. The only thing that will reduce your CPU's life span is if the core voltage is set higher than the CPU's safe operating zone. Increasing the voltage increases heat and thermal stress, which inturn decreases the lifespan of the processor.

Set your CPU voltage adjustment to manual and set it at 1.15V (default setting).
Then try increasing the FSB from 333MHz in small increments of 5MHz or less. If it wont boot, or becomes unstable, increase the CPU voltage to 1.2V, and see if it's stable. You might need to go to 1.35V to reach 3.6GHz, and remember to watch those temps! Make sure your CPU never goes past 1.45V, otherwise you might risk permanently damaging your processor.
