Help please - choice of SUV?

My primary requirements are rear seat space, value for money and power (ooomph). Must be nice to drive (currently have a coupe 125i which I love)

Considering the X1, Q3 or GLC?

Are those "premium" curb-climbers the only one's you're considering? Suppose you'll be happy with any one of them, rear, all or front wheel drive is probably the decider i suppose... otherwise they're all pretty german.

I think that's the part where you come in. What do you want in a SUV do you want proper off road ability on weekends? Do you want 7 seats or will 5 do. Do you want a diesel? Auto? Do you want car like handling? Do you basically want a higher hatchback? Do you want turbo? Do you want low service cost or reliability or is that not a concern. You said power what does that mean? Acceleration or do you want to tow a plane?

Those vehicles are so similar my only assumption is that you want a smallish German SUV to climb the occasional curb. Which is perfectly fine btw but then any one of those will do. In fact a 125i would also work for that.

My boss lady has a Q3 and is constantly complaining about the size of the boot, can't fit all the kiddy stuff in there.
 
some more detail - I don't have/want human kids, hence no need for major boot space.
I do have 3 dogs, who argue when they are a bit squashed like in the 125i - the coupe with 2 doors also makes it awkward to get them in and out.

I want a car which is zippy - so when I put my foot down, I want the car to move! eg overtaking, robot to robot
Auto yes - but as far as I know all those options can be automatic

The only offroading I do, is the dirt road to the stable.
 
My understanding is that you want something with more space than you currently have... No need for actual off road capabilities but like the idea/image of a 4x4.

Correct?

Land Rover Discovery Sport. You can't go wrong with GLC or X1. Although GLC rivals X3
 
Strange that you don't have the VW Tiguan, CX-5, qashqai, Sportage

My preference Tiguan or CX-5 but I hear a new CX-5 might be close. Wonder if they'll bring the CX-9

Forester? Discovery?

I would say Outback or Forester! The new Tucson should also be considered!

exactly yes! rear seat space to be exact - just thought that the SUV had more space than the sedans?

They don't. Rear seat space on par with hatches if you mean leg space, head space obviously a little higher

My family sedan has more rear seat space than our SUV
 
I would go for either the CX-5 or the new Sportage. Given the way the new Sportage looks, new CX-5 would be my choice.
