I have a Maxtor External HDD with it's own power supply and have a similar problem to that which BTech posted on 16 February.
I also have 2 PC's, a HP Pavillion laptop (Vista Home) which has no problem picking up the drive, however, my desktop (XPHome) won't, although it did initially. Like BTech the Maxtor does not come with drivers and nothing on their website.
All other USB devices work. These include an HPLaserjet1020,various cameras etc.
I have tried it on a friends PC, also with XPHome and it is recognised without any problem.
Please help me.
