Hi All

Can some one please let me know if they have a better way of dealing with Telkom to get a new home adsl installation going? I have been trying for a week now, everytime i speak to a different person at a different number which in turn tell me a different story.

The last one was this morning, now all of a sudden the area where is stay the exhange is full....now i have to wait. Can some one please give me some tips on how to deal with them, maybe a different number with a different person that can hopefully help me get the story straight.

At this point in time i am so frustrated i want to just leave the whole thing but i really need to connectivity from home to work.

Please help :)

Ciao

If that fails, go to your nearest Telkom shop and apply there - that's what I did, was up and running in pretty much the standard three weeks. Some people are up sooner, others later - average is about 14 working days.

Word of advise - whichever channel you use, follow it up every second day for the first week and every day on the second - just keep bugging and bugging and bugging - take down peoples names and direct contact numbers, be friendly and polite to them "thanks, have a great day" etc.

Works wonders if your polite and persistent. I eventually found "a friend" in the system who got me up and running in about 12 working days - without them, I would have been screwed around left right and center.

Be persistent

Do what I did

Walked into the customer centre, asked to speak to the branch manager, got to his office and said I wasn't leaving until I had resolution

Had my line installed in 2 weeks

2 weeks with all that effort? So a normal guy should expect it with normal procedures in no less than 2months ;-)

2 weeks is 10 working days - saturdays don't count.
That's actually a damn good install time for Telkom ! :D

Don't be a normal guy, kick some ass ! (politely)
Whatever you do, don't get angry with anyone at Telkom - I can almost gaurantee that if you do, your ADSL application will go to the bottom of the pile or get "lost" in the system ! :D

 ... those bastards ... well I was one of the unfortunate ones ... took me 9 Weeks ... but I was'nt in a hurry ... my complaints were solely why I was'nt receiving any updates.

I applied twice: once online and once via the call centre. I had mine installed in 8 days. Installation-wise, Telkom were a pleasure to deal with. They arrived on time and I had the line up before I had a chance to pick up a modem. The only problem is that they neglected to install a filter on one of my extensions. I complained and they returned the following day.

Was this on the contract? Did you buy the filter yourself? I'd like to believe it's all about the area of your request.

Where can I buy one of them filters @ a normal non-Telkomonopoly inflated price, what is the correct name for them filtration thingies?
