Help Please : Vista Business and Win 7

Hi, I have been running Vista Business for sme time without problem. Recently I installed Win 7 Pro as a dual boot, since then have experienced following :

WIN VISTA : COMPUTER programme which always used to show all details when I right clicked on propoerties now just says File failed to load. I have set up a short to the relevant file which works as COMPUTER is supposed to. COMPUTER is a desktop icon which you can turn on and off in taskbar settings.

WIN 7 Pro. The connection is intermittent on networks. It logs on fine and shows both local and internet, then just disconnects and after a few seconds will reconnect.


Anybody have any idea how to correct these problems. They don't affect operation of either OS but I would just like to correct them

Win 7 Pro : Try to install a new network driver, or maybe an old one. I have had a lot of trouble with network drivers, mainly wifi, under the final release version of W7. I am mainly using Vista network drivers for W7 now, in one case a XP driver.

There don't seem to be any reliable wifi drivers for Intel 5100/5150/5300/5350 cards.

WIN Vista : Reinstall the application.

Hi Have done that without avail. The Wireless card is the Intel 4965AGN. Works fine with latest Lenovo drivers, but just cannot remain connected under WIN 7. Have tried to reinstall COMPUTER looks like will have to reinstall VISTA. Any other advice?

Another challenge is the fact that WIN 7 will not connect to work ADSL despite password being repeatedly entered VISTA works just fine!

Hi Tony, I had exactly the same problems when Windows XP got released. Had so many problems that I went back to Windows 2000 in the end and only gave XP another go when Microsoft released Service Pack 1.

So, I have learnt my lesson and will only get Windows 7 after MS release SP1. Just not worth all the pain and frustration. I'm still using Vista Business on one of my laptops for my Server 2008 exams and it's ok.

Is the PC a Lenovo? Try to remote the ThinkVantage software.

Hi Thanks for inputs. I'm using the Thinkvantage software on the thinkpad with Win 7 and it disconnects intermittently, but is fine on Vista. The version I downloaded was specifically for WIN 7.
Still not having any joy with COMPUTER Icon (Programme).
