I have just got a brand new Nokia 6680. 3G usually works, but sometimes my phone shows connected to 3G at zero signal. (I have netmonitor installed but I have NOT selected 3G-only.) Data stalls. If I switch off and on again the problem persists. If I move the phone to an area of the house which doesn't get 3G, the 3G indicator goes off, my signal strength returns, and data flows via GPRS. I get the impression this is a network problem as it seems to be associated with one particular cell.

The thing whch I want urgent help with is this: the phone is switching itself off. Once it switched off and stayed off, a couple of times it has come back on (or perhaps it was doing a self-reset).

Should I take the phone back as an out-of-box failure? Or is this switching off / resetting a reaction to network 3G problems, ie the replacement phone would just do exactly the same?

I had exactly the same problem with my 6230 on GPRS. The sooner you take it back the better. They replaced the phone for me.

Yes, return it ASAP. AFAIK after you've made 15 minutes of calls or had the phone 7 days, you can't swop it for another one anymore. Then you will have to hand it in and get a sopkombuis loan phone while yours is in for repair.
