hi i live in pe and have the 386 adsl line and my friend has 64k idsn line and he gets a better ping then me in counter-strike source, why is that? is it my router limiting my connection speed or what can some1 pls help me, thx

This is normal in South Africa.
Telkom uses port shaping on their ADSL products, giving lower priority to gaming than surfing or downloading e-mails. Have a look at the Telkom ADSL product pages for clarification. They have in the past advertised ADSL for gaming purposes, but this is / was false advertising.
The best low latency connection for gaming is currently ISDN, because there is no port shaping applied.
I feel your pain!!! Look at the MyADSL forums regularly to check on the status of ADSL gaming. It seems like Telkom's ADSL service has severely degraded since August 2005.

from what i have heard isdn is also being shaped but mainy internationally, from what i have seen, since adsl was realesed, isdn has always performed better with cs 1.6 and when source came out! Believe it, this is telkom we are talking about
