Hi guys,

Posted a thread not too long ago regarding my girlfriend's laptop not booting. Thanks to everyone who offered help in that regard.

So eventually we had to take it in to HP and it turns out that the motherboard is fried (apparently).

But, the techie mentioned that this model was "recalled", but her particular one wasn't.

It's now out of warranty, so all costs fall on us. I'm just wondering if we have any recourse here in terms of the product being "recalled". Does that mean HP knew it to be faulty and recalled the product, but we were never notified?

Is there any way I can take this further, or is this just a case of bad luck?

Any light you guys could shed on this would be much appreciated, as always :)

Thanks :)

They would or should have published the recall on their website. I shouldn't think they would contact you, unless you filled in the warranty registration. If it is only recently out of guarantee, I would ask them to make an exception or tell them it started going awry a while before the thing fried itself.
