I want to load MTN prepaid by using USD (unstructured supplementary data), instead of removing the SIM from my GSM Commander (www.gsmcommander.com) and loading it via my mobile phone.

In the past, after buing prepaid aitime from your local supplier, you loaded it by entering *141*VOUCHER NUMBER# and hitting the OK/Call button, but it does not work anymore and on the prepaid voucher they only give instructions to phone 555 and to follow the voice prompts.

Can anybody confirm if this service is stopped or if an alternative is available. On CellC and Vodacom it still works with *102*VOUCHER NUMBER# and *101*VOUCHER NUMBER# respectively.

The only reason I use MTN is because the prepaid and bundles does not expire if you make 1 call or SMS every 90 days. CellC's airtime expires after 30 days and Vodacoms' SMS bundles expire after 30 days, both useless. Anybody any info about Virgin mobile perhaps?

Doesn't work anymore

As I already said *141*<voucher no># does not work anymore. I know it used to work in 2007 when the thread you refer to was created, but unfortunately it does not work anymore and I would like to know if there is any alternative way to load MTN airtime from a voucher to a remote sim.

I tried it on 27/09/2008 a few times without luck, the only way I could get it loaded was by phoning 555 and following the voice prompts, as instructed on the prepaid voucher.

The vouchers and booklets bundles with the prepiad sims used to display the USSD command (*141*voucherno#) to load airtime, but the latest booklets and vouchers does not display the USSD to load airtime anymore, both mention that you have to phone 555 and follow the voice promps. I tried the USSD command which used to work, but as I said, without any luck.

The *141*voucher_pin# code does work (15/1/2009) but I agree, it would be much better if MTN included this code as well as the balance enquiry code (*141#) in the prepaid starterpack booklets

Are you supposed to get charged for USSD commands? I have a R6 or so USSD bill for the last month... Not sure what this would be from, possibly checking airtime/free minutes/sms. I am on MyCall100

Hi,
Sorry a bit late to the thread, hope OP is still around.
Data bundle expiry on Vod is less of an issue now that low-value bundles have been launched, 5MB and 20MB options available.

As for the recharge.
Ideal would be to not have to remove the sim from your terminal to load airtime/bundle in the first place. This is a service we provide, see http://www.flickswitch.co.za/products/simcontrol

We charge:
Once off R10 to add a sim, thereafter R6/month/sim + airtime/bundles loaded at retail.

PM me if you want more info.
