Police on Tuesday appealed for help in finding the relatives of a two-year-old girl whose parents were killed in a weekend accident in Alberton, south of Johannesburg.

"Police are appealing to anyone with information, or who might know the relatives of the girl, to come forward with information," spokesman Lt-Col Lungelo Dlamini said.

Two women, a man, an eight-year-old girl, and a five-year-old boy were killed on Saturday afternoon when a VW Golf, driven by an alleged drunk driver, crashed into their minibus taxi in Alrode, Alberton.

"The child is too young and could not provide any information of her parents, as the accident victims have not yet been identified at the Germiston mortuary."

The girl was taken to Child Welfare SA in Alberton North.

The Golf's driver was expected to appear in court on charges of culpable homicide.

surely the driver had his driver's license on him?

Maybe they were passengers in a taxi? If they owned the vehicle then they could simply look up the reg and get the details that way or maybe I'm expecting to much.
