Help! Spyware infected

You can also have a look at CWShredder. CWShredder finds and destroys the CoolWebSearch P-O-S hijacker. There is one nasty P-O-S thing out:
Why would someone want to use an app that only takes care of one type of spybot? It's completely useless until you're infected and you can't possibly install all the apps that are available. So why go for anything that only takes care of one problem? You should get something that takes care of everything.

I've posted from the perspective of when you must try to disinfect an infected PC.

But I also agree with you.

Besides, Getting rid of Microsoft VM (or patching it?) should make you completely immune to CWS variants anyway.

But I've found Spybot's updates to be slower than the updates to CWShredder, so CWShredder is usually better for any new variants.

And whoever thought up rootkits was an absolute idiot.

I would like to rootkit whoever thought up rootkits with a coarse wooden stick with lots of lovely splinters...

What exactly is a rootkit?

It's a way of installing things onto your computer, and then making them invisible to windows. Supposedly a 'feature' but in reality its so easy to exploit it's just too dangerous to justify.
