I just upgraded to ADSL with telkom.

I have several email accounts, one of them being with yahoo. I use outlook to send mail from Yahoo as its easier to keep track this way. I use my yahoo email address as the sender ID and my smtp is set to smtp.saix.net (I don't collect via pop though)

However, everytime i try send a mail i get the following error
"554 <[email protected]>: Sender address rejected: Access denied"

If i change my email address to a telscum one it works fine.

This is the first time i have ever come accross this. Its really nasty of them to block an email based on the sender id.

Is there a way around this?

And advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Roddy

Try enabling Outgoing Server authentication in Outlook.

Tools > Email Accounts > Next > Change > More Settings.

It might be a relay issue.

thanks.

I spoke to Telscum and they confirmed that if the sender address is from yahoo, their server will reject it.

I had to upgrade the yahoo account to a mail plus account so that i could use Yahoo's smtp settings. All sorted, but cost me R120 (per year, so not too bad)

You could use Gmail, they allow that and more ;) for FREE!
Plus you get 2.6gig+
