Hi guys,
Need some hepl, does this not support 10/1000?
I can only connect via 10/100, have tried everything, new injector, new cabling cant get it to sync at anything higher than 10/100 on the router, it only shows 10/100
So I assume it isnt capable of 10/100?

Any help would be appreciated

Nevermind :

The Ubiquiti UniFi UAP-LR (Long Range) is an 802.11n 2.4 GHz indoor access point supporting up to 300 Mbps, featuring 2x2 MIMO and a 27 dBm TX power for extended range. It utilizes 24V Passive PoE, includes a 10/100 Ethernet port, and is designed for ceiling or wall mounting.

Let me know how that U7 Lite works. Trying to help a friend with his one, we've run 2 cables to test, 45M each, crimped properly, other devices get 1Gbps, the U7 refuses to get any data at all. I suspecting a POE issue though, i don't think the device is actually booting. Cause i tried with a 5M cable and its perfect, so something in that length is going awry. But POE should do around 90M or so, so it is weird.

I have just ordered it but that is weird, at 50m it should be getting the full speed no?
Are you using an injector or the standard POE

Chat GPT:

Here’s how cabling and PoE affect throughput for the Ubiquiti UniFi U7 Lite (U7‑Lite):

📡 PoE & Ethernet distance basics

  • The U7-Lite supports 802.3af PoE (approx. up to ~15 W available) through its RJ-45 port, so it gets power and data over the same cable.
  • The 2.5 GbE link on the port (what the AP uses for wired uplink) follows standard Ethernet physical rules (2.5GBASE-T). Over Cat5e/Cat6 it is specified to work up to 100 m (328 ft) cable length at full speed.

📏 How far can the full 1 Gbps (or more) run?

  • Over twisted-pair Ethernet (Cat5e/Cat6), both PoE and data can reliably reach the U7-Lite up to the standard 100 m distance while still delivering multi-gigabit links (e.g., 1 Gbps or the full 2.5 Gbps physical layer speed).
  • If you exceed ~100 m, you’ll start losing link speed and possible connection drops because the physical signal degrades — this affects both data throughput and PoE power delivery.

⚡ What about longer runs?

  • You can use PoE extenders, PoE repeaters/switches or fiber + media converters to go past 100 m, but standard passive Ethernet/PoE won’t maintain full 1 Gbps/2.5 Gbps speeds beyond ~100 m without additional equipment.

🧠 Summary

  • Max “full-speed” Ethernet distance: ~100 m (328 ft) over Cat5e/6.
  • This applies to both data (1 Gbps+) and adequate 802.3af PoE power delivery to the AP.
  • Going further without intermediate devices will drop link speeds or fail to maintain the PoE power level.
If you need help calculating reach with specific cable types (Cat5e vs Cat6 vs Cat6A), I can walk you through that too!

Standard from a unify switch. Will try an injector, as i imagine its got more power behind it.

We stopped testing for a bit as the internet was up and down as Vuma decided to do an upgrade in Morningside and broke most of it lol. But its back up, will try again.

If you have a multimeter, measure the voltage at the AP side of the problem cable..

The 5M cable was done with the same crimper? Crimpers can wear out and one or more pins dont work
If yes then is it copper UTP cable?
If yes are you using A or B standard?

How would one do that with a multimeter? Which ones would you hold black and red tester cables to? I am interested to know this please
You dont. Passive PoE will output a voltage, but active will not, besides those little pins are too hard to get probes on.

The unit is in the garage with the door closed , the distance isn't fantastic. But to be far the unit is sitting above the solar cable which is massive.
