hi

I'm trying to create a share folder on my pc (win7) i've done it before on xp and it worked 100% but having probs in win7

basically i'm sharing the folder on my home network so that i can access it on my laptop, the laptop is loaded with xp sp3

i've made the folder a share and removed all security from under the crontol panel.

but when i try to access the share folder from my laptop it asks me for a user name and password ?.... i dont have a username and password on my desktop and i removed that option for share folder credentials from the control panel already

any idea what i can do ? or what am i doing wrong ?

put the password back in the desktop, then try. Like with my HTC Desire, I cant access the PC if I do not have a User & Password. So I just put it back in ..

The only sure-fire way I found of doing this with Win 7 and Vista/XP mixes (wired and wireless), was to enable full control sharing under "everyone" - not very secure, but at least you don't get any connection nonsense!
If using this method and you're connected to the web on any machine, make sure you have sufficient protection... at minimum, use MAC filtering... :D

Make sure you are running on the same workgroup, also make sure you have the following settings in your windows 7 network and sharing center.

Then after applying those settings, right click the folder you want to share -> Share with -> Specific people then add "Guest" then click share.

Hope that helps. :)
