Hi guys,

So I decided to get some sonoff smart switches for the house.

I had no issue with the 1 gang. However, when opened up the 3 gang, I was confused by the wiring so hoping someone here can help or advise me.

I attached the wiring of the original switch. There seems to be 2 red wires, 2 black(the end of the one has a red piece). The one red goes across all 3 switches. The other red goes to the bottom switch, one black goes to the middle switch and the other black to the top switch.

How would I wire this to a sonoff 3 gang smart switch?

Thanks! IMG_20220408_164705.jpg

You need to pull neutrals.

That middle black wire with red at the end looks dodge.
I thought the black wire would of been the neutral.

Agree with you about the black wire with red at the end.

I think maybe I'll get someone to come wire it up properly. I don't want to screw something up.

I got someone in to do the first one and asked a lot of questions. Then I just copied what they did for the rest.

Eh if you thought the black was negative, I agree that getting someone in to wire it is a good decision.

Nothing dodgy about it all. All three wires are "live" to three different lights. The centre one feeds "live" to all three switches. The only "dodge" is your lack of understanding about electrical wiring.

There is nothing wrong with the wiring except that there is NO NEUTRAL available in the switch box for you to use to connect up the SONOP.

A neutral will have to be pulled in, OR, you will have to sacrifice one of the light circuits and recover the existing black wire and use it as a neutral.

I am well aware of how it's connected.

If you looked at the pic, you would see it's clearly not insulated properly.

The bottom red wire on the left feeds live. But anyway...
