Hello Guys

I know I can always count on you for some advise.

I had a current account with SBSA for a quite some time, so last year around September I noticed
two unknown debit orders coming from my account for an amount of R399.00 and R99.00.

I went to the Tyger Manor branch to make an enquiry and ask for reversal, they reversed the debit
orders. I then asked them which company is debiting my account, they said it's some loan company
I signed up with, which is not true cos I never had an agreement with any loan company. I asked them
to stop the debit orders and they said it's not possible because the reference number changes everytime
they debit.

In October the said company debited again and I followed up with them with no luck, asked for a reversal
and SBSA reversed them. At the beginning of December I opened an account with FNB and switched everything
to them except the two debit orders.

Ever since, SBSA has been sending me sms'es saying my account is in excess and I must make a deposit, I ignored
the sms'es. Last night I received another one and decided to log onto their app, my account is in red with an amount
of R985.00.

I had no overdraft facility or anything of that sort. So my question is, If I continue ignoring them will this have impact on my credit records or will it simply go away?

TIA

I think you will find that the outstanding fees are not from the debit orders going off but from penalty fees incurred from debit orders going off of an account with no funds available. So that amount will probably be purely penalty fees.

Close the account. Keeping it open is just a risk. Pay the penalty fees and run because it probably will hurt your credit rating. They will charge you rent on the outstanding amount as well. Pay it before the outstanding amount gets too big. Fighting them just isn't worth the effort.

Stroll into SBSA...

Close the account, and when they start getting shirty about it start throwing your toys all over the place very publicly and demand to speak to the bank manager right where you are.... usually will get you some sort of traction.

Simple
Ask for a written letter in respect of their complaint because you need it for the Ombudsman and ask them for the Ombudsman's contact details.

They will stop immediately.
