Help with a home theatre projector...

I thought you hinted at buying a screen from Esquire...my bad

I did Because of the hassle making mine....

It may do the job, but it's nowhere near theater quality.

LOL, I'm not planning on charging an entrance fee and opening a popcorn stand here...

Why is the screen so important? My understanding is you need a white, reflective surface which is pretty much what any screen is, surely? Or am I being a pawpaw?

The gain (reflectiveness) is probably the most important factor. It'll influence viewing angles, hotspots etc. Your room's characteristics will be important when making a choice.
Research a bit, but don't settle on a cheap boardroom type screen if you buy a R10000+ projector.

Yup.... A good projector is a must, but then you need to pay attention to the material being used for the screen, as well as the placement etc etc....
