Hi,

Before i make a mistake, please give me some advice.

I can upgrade next week. I am looking at the torch. I am with MTN
My wife has a cell c blackberry contract with the curve 8520.
My wife really likes the torch and i really like the curve.
So my question is this. Can i upgrade to the torch and load the BIS on my account and then just use the curve on my mtn account and wife use the torch on her cell c account.
Will the BIS still work even thought the phones are switched?

A woman at a MTN Store said it doesn't matter, so long as the BIS is loaded on the account, it doesn't matter which blackberry you use.

Thanks

that should work just fine.

Thanks, hope it works!
Might change my mind about the torch. Very expensive compared to the bold. Afraid the novelty of the torch wears off in a week or so...

Klokkie, what speeds do you get with your BIS and Cell C on the 8520? Also, does the BIS ever give problems?

hi bighit,
i cant really tell because we are in a stupid situation where we ported from virgin to cell c but virgin failed to cancel the contract and cell c just randomly activated the cell c sim card before we were able to port. So we haven't be able to use the sim card with the BIS activated , i just use the 8520 with my mtn contract.
We don't know what to do know, virgin has got 3 months extra from us after the contract expired. They just keep debting our account....

thats not good. so after the Virgin contract expired, did you phone them or write them a letter saying that you don't want the contract to continue?

We phoned and the call centre person said that after the 24month the contract will expire and we can just port to cell c the next day. So we went ahead and did just that. The port was rejected stating that the number was still under contract. So we phone virgin again, this time the call centre person said that we should have faxed through a letter stating that we wish the contract to be terminated so we did just that. At the end of that month we tried porting again , again a rejection stating that the number was under contract. Phoned virgin again, the call center person said that they did not received the fax, but she will convert the contract to prepaid and then we can port. So we did the port again, again a failure. Now Cell c has gone and randomly activated the sim card we received with the contract before the virgin number could be ported. The call centers just transfers us between Cell c direct and the port me center. We will try again today , but i suspect we are stuck with the new cell c number - which is probably not a huge disaster but just very annoying! :(

Hmmm, I've just been through 7 days of trying to get BIS working on Cell C so I feel your pain. I think in your situation, it's probably better to go to virgin and cancel the contract in the store itself and get reference numbers and whatever else they can give you to prove you are not on contract anymore.(if virgin is still billing you). Then start at cell c, took me 4 visits to the store to sort my stuff out.
