Any suggestion on how to overcome firewall issue when trying to downloadd with bittorrent. message received connected but firewalled.
using vista home. or any idea where to download utorrent from local site (capped)

go to http://www.portforward.com/ and read up on how to forward your ports.

alternatively you can put your router into bridge mode and create a PPPoE connection on your computer.

That will solve the firewall problem but also creates a security risk... it completely bypasses the hardware firewall on the router. Then you need to use a software firewall. Which once again takes you back to step 1.

To open a port for a program- locate the port required on the program. You can set it, etc. For p2p the port number should preferably be above 40'000. On your router, go to "port forwarding" and create a "new rule". Enter the port number and for protocol, select tcp and udp. Trackers often make use of udp too so this does help.
