Help with Blackberry email filters

So now that I have my BB I need some help... So please share your knowledge with me!

So my parents and myself both share one Telkomsa mailbox with two aliases which look something like this (not my real email btw):
1. [email protected]
2. [email protected]

So how do I set up the filter on myBB to only download emails sent to [email protected]?

On my laptop its fine because I can set outlook to "only download if 'to' contains the word Justin". I dont have that option using my BB... The problem is the common word in our email addresses. So if I say do not download emails with the word 'parents', I wont get my email either.

So what do I do?

I have one, but all my more important email goes to my telkomsa email address and Im not really all that keen to change to a @gmail.com address.

Is there not a easy-ish solution? or any solution to be quite honest?

Why wouldn't you want an @gmail.com address? It's a lot better than using a telkomsa.net address that you will lose if/when your parents change ISP.

Its just that I would have to let everyone know about my change in email address which is a mission. It would be so much easier to keep my telkom address if possible. Is there no way to set up more advanced filters like on outlook?

And just one more thing, what do the for dots mean in this pic?

Set up a main Gmail account to import Telkom mail. Then use filter rules in the main Gmail account to forward relevant email to your Gmail account and a seperate Gmail account for your parents.

That's kind of the result.

First Gmail account can be like family at Gmail which you use to import all your Telkom email.

The you have your own Gmail account and your parents their own. The main account with filters in the settings can forward on mail to the relevant account.

By replying from your Gmail account your frequent contacts will get your new email address.

GMail is a good idea but the simple solution to your problem is to login to your mobileemail.

Click on Filters on the right.
Click Add Filter
Give Name
Click Drop Down
Select "To:" Field
enter your parents email in the box bellow
Leave "Do not forward messages to device" active
Click "Add Filter" button

Done

Now as for changin to gmail, its a simple process of creating 1 email, choosing all your friends and typing a message along the lines of

I have joined the ranks of International Genius by purchasing myself a Blackberry, to simply my life i have decided to relocate from that insult to email out their provided by that insult to internet and telecommunication, aka Telkom. Please update your address books with my nice new pretty gmail address, [email protected].

Benefits of gmail, faster mail delivery to device, RIM check pop mail every 20 minutes on BIS, 10 on BES, exceptions being push mail servers. For BES an enterprise server is generally set to push mail directly to the device, GMail is 1 of the few free, working push mail servers. Push mail in case you do not know means that once a mail arrive at your push server, gmail or enterprise, the mail is literally pushed to your handset. So instead of waiting to be checked by RIMs server it jumps the gun and forces the mail directly through. Meaning that instead of waiting up to 20min for RIM to push u your POP mail, GMail will push it to u instantly cutting the time from up to 20 minutes, down to a few seconds.

GMail also sync (optimally) your address book and contacts between your device and itself, so every change you make on your device will update on GMail, and every change you make on GMail updates on your device, be it changing a contact, adding a contact or adding/editing a calendar entry. Additionally GMail also send the sent items down to your handset allowing you to keep copies on your device of any sent mail, something that is not possible with telkom or any pop server.

Finally, greatest advantage of all, its not owned by telkom.

Thanks. I have sorted it out.

Two methods I can use, just trying to figure out which is better... either forwarding my telkom email via webmail to gmail (But I then lose it on my telkom mailbox).
Or the basic filter of (Download when the word contains Justin) seems to work, but then the emails dont come through instantly. Either way, its sorted.
