Hi
I have ADSL where I stay now, but am relocating to a new area soon. The new address doesn't have an ADSL infrastructure and I have to resort to a wireless option. My knowledge is very limited when it comes to connectivity issues and would like to ask of the readers what they think. First I will list my needs and then some info that I have gathered. Assume my budget is unlimited.
Needs:
I purchase and download most of my games via Steam – uncapped or at least a lot of data is therefore essential
I play MMORPGs (not FPS!), so the connection need to be stable and fast enough for that.
My ADSL line is currently at 1 mb/s, which is a little bit too slow for my liking.
Info I've already gathered
The new address (Langenhovenpark in Bloemfontein) has 3G cover from all 4 service providers – MTN, Vodacom, Cell C and 8ta.
The new address doesn't have LTE (4G the same?) cover at all. MTN is the only network that has LTE cover in Bloemfontein. According to their coverage map they also cover certain areas of Langenhovenpark but it seems the new address will be just beyond the signal. Does this mean MTN is more likely to expand on their LTE coverage in Bloem compared to the other networks that haven't even started rolling out LTE in this area?
I have read about certain routers (huawei) and antennas (yagi) that can seemingly make all the difference. Are they essential?
What do you think would be my best bet considering all the facts?
Thanks in advance
Regardt
