Hi, I just got an curve 8520 on MTN.
Under setup, there should be an icon to setup email - but not on mine. I checked on someone else's phone and the icon to setup email is there.

I checked through Desktop Manager for updates but it says the phone has the latest updates. So why then is the icon not there and how do i get it back?

Can anyone help?

There should be three icons, with the first one being "Setup Wizard", once you select that option it will take you into various options including "Email".

If memory serves, the email setup icon only appears once the Blackberry service is active. If the icon isn't there, chances are your BB service hasn't kicked in yet, or if it has try turn the phone off, take out the battery then put it all back together and start it up again. Sometimes it just needs to register on the network again to sort this

Thats correct, if i remember application center should also be missing, there are about 3 or 4 icons that are only available if there is an active BIS link.

that`s correct your egde should show capital letters( EGDE ) then the services is activated. the alternative is to go to mobileemail.vodafonsa.co.za to setup your email.

Most MTN stores are dumb****s and dont tell you that you need to fill in some stupid form to activate BIS (The most important thing on the phone!!)

Vodacom prepaid FTW!! (Ironically EDGE is down in my area after some pretty hevy storms so all my friends without 3G are suffering LOL). Just showed my neighbour how to use Wifi to bypass the lack of EDGE on his 8520.
