I have an Acer TravelMate C302XMi tablet PC that has decided to crash on me. Windows randomly shuts down after a countdown of 60seconds and an error meassage. I tried everything from antivirus/antispyware/registry repair software, nothing works. I've sought the opinio of computer experts who said that the PC might have been infected with a worm, which has left damage to Windows. I can load Windows XP Professional but I'll loose the tablet functions. Only option left is to recover the PC, which I discovred I couldn't do because my recovery discs could not be read by the optic drive. Maaaannn!!!!! On numerous occasions I've called and written emails to Acer requesting new recovery discs, but those guys have not responded. Does anyone out there know what can I do?:(

Can't you download that Tablet software from Acer's website? If so then a format would probably be the fastest way to fix your problem.

When you switch on your computer. Press the F8 key repeatedly, keep pressing it until you see a list of options.

Choose, start safe-mode

When you enter safe mode, click on your username and click "NO" at the dialogue to do a system restore. Look at the restore dates in the calander, choose a date which you know that the computer didn't have trouble, follow the dialogues and restore the system back to that date.

Restart into normal windows and see if the problem is fixed ;)

I'm off to bed now.

Ciao

Have you got backups of your data?
Only asking as this should be your main concern.
An operating system can always be reloaded.

Might be the Blaster32 virus, when you connect to the internet a box appear counting down from 60 seconds
