Hello all,
I have a Vantec NexStar HX4R with 4x 2TB WD Reds installed.
Well, I had 3, and was running RAID5.
I popped in the 4th this evening, and set the Vantec to RAID1+0, by physically setting the toggle buttons on the external housing.
When I installed and fired it up, no Disk Initialization option popped up, which is what the manual said would happen. Having a look in Disk Utility, didn't show much of a difference.
So I decided to erase everything again. Upon going through this process, it now shows I have 4TB of space - which appears to be right, since RAID 1+0 is 2x my smallest drive (i.e. 2x2TB=4TB).
My problem(?)::
Disk Utility has my two drives (I partitioned the drive into 2) listed under the main device, BUT the device description reads as follows: JMicron H/W RAID5 Media... It hasn't changed.
Now I'm worried that it's still running it as RAID5, and NOT RAID 1+0, as it should be... How would I verify this? Is there any way to check whether it's functioning as either RAID5 or RAID1+0?
Any suggestions?
