Help with finding a password protector for windows

Please can somone assist with a program which I can install so I can secure a few private files of mine from being viewed. I have downloaded what are suppose to protect your file with a password, but they don't I am operate on Vista. Programmes I downloaded .. 7-Zip and Axcrypt which have not worked for me.
 
Download truecrypt 7.1, it's the best at hiding your midget porn!
 
Vista? Get rid of that excuse of a OS.


WinRAR will do what you want it to do.
 
Can't get Winrar to work. I select the file, enter the password twice as it says, but still i can open up the file with no password?
