Hello all,
So during my previous fight with Telkom concerning my line that wasn't working one of the faults they found was my ADSL Modem(still have to see any proof of that as yet) so I went and got myself the 4 port ADSL router as supplied from Telkom. When my line finally was repaired I was amazed that after plugging the router in it actually worked. I now need some help on the configuration of it though.
I spend a lot of time on the IRC and on occasion play text based games, both of these services require a stable connection. With my brand spanking new modem though I have found that it simply kills idle connections after some time, so in short all is fine and dandy while I'm at my pc but as soon as I go away or minimise some windows the modem starts dropping connections.
So far I have accessed the router and set it that inbound and outbound traffic reset the idle connection timer as well as setting the idle connection timer itself to 0 which should disable it, but this has had no effect so far.
So if anyone out there is able to help, please do. In short, how do I use the IRC and Telnet Applications without Telkom's 4 Port ADSL Router dropping the connections.
