Hi Guys

Having some IPv6 issues and I am hoping the Guru's on the forum are able to assist. Networking N00b here. I am with Vumatel/Afrihost and my TP LINK Archer C9 router is enabled for IPv6. Spoke to the fantastic and helpful Afrihost support dude and he said that IPv6 is available on Afrihost.

The Router IPv6 status page shows an ip6 address allocted so it appears to be working, but https://whatismyipaddress.com/ and other such sites say that IPv6 is not enabled. my windows 10 PC is definitely configured for it, and my Xbox Series X also sayisn IPv4, despite v6 being standard there.

What do I need to do to get IPv6 working ?

If it's Vumatel active ethernet or trenched then there is no v6 support as yet.

Its Afrihost Aerial fibre (on the poles). what is curious is that if I run a an "ipconfig" then I can see link-local and default gateway addresses in the v6 format. so in theory, it seems to be working. but in practice (Xbox + whatismyip) it is still saying no v6 active.

could just be your routers internal v6 stuff.
what are the prefixes? your devices should get an external v6

Definitely think it's router related.

Have you tried your pc directly to the ONT yet?
