Help with Kindle

Ordered a kindle yesterday and just noticed some of the books I need on there on in .chm format.

Does anyone own a kindle or has experience with this? Does it read .chm and if not... is there a way to fix it

You should be able to convert it to the appropriate format (e.g. mobi) using Calibre, free ebook software.

Yep. ^ thats the way. It will also manage your ebooks between your pc and your kindle if you get the books from alternate sources.

You're just going to have to look around, then, for other programs and methods to convert it.

CHM isn't a book format. It is a help file format, which is HTML based. So another thing you can try is to extract the CHM to HTML and then convert from HTML to mobi, etc... in Calibre or another program. You should be able to use 7zip to extract HTML from CHM files.
