E7300 CPU bus speed = 1066 MHz
Motherboard says 1066O.C/800/533 MHz

Are they compatible? What does the O.C. mean? That I would have to overclock the m/b to reach 1066 for that particular cpu to work? Or can I drop the E7300 in no problemo?

I think that the "OC" just means that the manufacturer provides a tool/technology to OC RAM of a lower MHz, almost like a marketing gimmick. I stand to be corrected though. The term only seems to be used with integrated motherboards. I don't think you would only be able to attain 1066MHz by overclocking RAM of a lower MHz, I think you could put standard 1066MHz sticks in the board.

Yeah, you will have to OC(overclock) the mobo to run the CPU at 1066FSB. You would be better of getting a newer board... A nice cheapie(new) will be about R750...

Thing is I have a spare E7300 and want to upgrade the kids pc. Googling for instructions. I know Asus provides overclocking features for the m/b but what are the steps?

It'll just run the E7300 at 800fsb = 2ghz?

Then just increase the fsb in the bios to 266 again?

Need to confirm it though

Check the cpu support list if 45nms are supported first

EDIT: sell me the E7300 if it doesnt work out :P
