Doesnt someone want to PM me some brokers too
Stuck with my current insurance just for the convenience (R700p/m, R1k excess for a 2012 G650GS, R82k coverage), but want to shop around now that I've got my full licence
Some days I'm such a noob. NC700x @ R66000.
WTF? Dude...its the other way around! I have a broker...they take care of everything and most times the rate is even cheaper than going direct.
Im with Santam, R310 a month. Flat excess of R1500 for accidents for my 2007 SV650S, through a broker - oh...and I have a learners with 2 months experience on a bike
I even have a voucher of R1500 I can use should there be an accident...so that means no excess! Dunno who told you a broker makes things more complicated, sorry to say I dont think they have a clue...![]()
Bikeline is good and your quote seems pretty good.
I've also had very good service from another company who specialises in bikes, I'll PM you their details now.
Congrats on the NC700, awesome bike for commuting. Mate of mine is getting 3.5l/100.

As for the broker argument it's generally not too bad going direct for household/car etc but when it comes to bikes your get SHOCKING deals when not using a broker and more if not throwing all your insurance together under one product umbrella.
That being said shop around regardless. I've had good and bad offers from directs as well as brokers and simply play them up against each other.
Whenever I've claimed though it's been an infinitely better experience having a broker than dealing direct...Outsurance will never ever see me again for this very reason.
If it's convenient to sign up for...it's going to be a pain to claim for.
And if you want track cover from a "direct insurer" you can forget it.
Hi All,
Sorry for resurrecting an old thread. In the same predicament as above, just have learners for now.
Looking at buying a bike, looking at either '14 Yamaha MT-09 or '14 BMW S1000R.
Require insurance for finance. Seems like Iron horse, Bike line and Santam are the way to go.
Anyone know of reliable brokers that can offer a good premium with decent benefits and excess.
Thanks
I seriously hope those aren't your first bikes.
Why not just get the license sorted before going crazy?
If you buy the BMW though go straight to their insurance, will probably be the best deal.
Bargain on 3.5-4% of the value per annum if you are claim free.
