I just need some help setting up my router for peer-to-peer networking I have a SMC Barricade (SMC9701BRA2). The network address translation settings should be on?? But this does not prohibit peer-to-peer networking, please help

In your PM you said that Portforwarding isn't working, have you previously tried setting up a port forward, if so please cancel/delete all previous port forwards and see if it works.

Sorry I'm not familiar with the SMC Routers. If you know what your username/password for your isp account is, you can try resetting the router by pressing the small button at the back, after doing this the router will be reset to factory defaults.
