I bought a planet adsl router and want to put my 30 gig local cap into it and use raspppoe to dial up international cap. This use to work when i was borrowing my freind SMC7904BRA2 router. It does not howerver seem to work with the planet ade-4400. Is the router not able to dial raspppoe and have the local cap in it at the same time? Bridge mode does work but this is to much of an effort. Please recomend other routers that are able to do this task other than the smc.

Thanks

lol... I am having the same problem... I have the Planet 3100A router... I could also use my Billion Wireless BiPac 7202GR2... but the problem is I don't know how to set up the router. Do I put it in bridge mode? Do I leave the username and password blank? What other settings do I have to configure to use RASPPPoE? I don't see any documentation on how to do that. I got the RASPPPoE set up on my PC... but I could not get it to see any services through my default network adapter.

i just changed from PPPoE/PPPoA to bridge mode and the raspppoe worked. i am sure it will work for you aswell but i am more interested to know if i leave it in PPPoE/PPPoA mode how can i use my raspppoe. perhaps there is a setting i am overlooking or the router cant handle it.

Yes, but I want to use a local only account on one computer... and an international account on another computer... so which username and password do I use in the router?

Same way I have done mine I think (also a planet modem)

I have set up my shaped account on the router, and my wifes PC just logs on normally to the router, and uses the shaped account.

Mine does the same on my PC, but I have created a new network connection that is simular to "dailup" (Connect to a broadband account that requires a username and password" under new connetions) Here I have put my unshaped account details in. When I want to play games, I just "dail up" and it uses the unshaped account.

Should be able to do the same thing on your two systems

ok, so the RAS PPPoE connection can connect through the router to my ISP even though the router is logged into a different account? Is that what the "bridge mode" allows for?

only raspppoe works in bridge mode. i dont get a username and password feild if in bridge mode. however bridge mode might be the answere for you as you can leave modem in bridge mode and just add raspppoe to the two machines and dial up when ever you need.

If you have a modem that can do "half-bridge mode" then the router can log into an account and you can use the PC with RasPPPoE to log into another account. You'll have to search the settings of your modem to see if this is possible.

ok i took back the planet and got refund now i need to know which modem will give me the hassle free setup of having it in pppoe and still using raspppoe at the same time. I was looking at the netgear DG834UK. Not shure if it can handle what i need though.
