Help with Sonarr and Sabnzbd

Hi. A few weeks back I thought my pc died as it went into boot loop. Tried it again this week and it started up, but some errors came up. One if which was the sabnzbd settings file that looks like it corrupted, was just blank. So I deleted the file, and started sabnzbd again. It went through the setup process and everything seems to work.

Problem now is Sonarr cannot connect to sabnzbd. I changed to the new api key, changed it again, Sonarr just says test failed. I can access both through localhost:port number in the browser, and these settings are in both programs. The Sonarr log file says something about target machine refused the connection, I can copy the log file tomorrow if needed.

Any ideas on what else I can check? Also checked the cordcutting guide etc with no solution.
 
Had the same issue a while back, had to define a new category in SABnzdb (called tv) and updated the download client in Sonarr. After that no issues so far, connected and running.
 
Tried using 127.0.0.1 that Sabnzbd shows. Didn't work. Will try the category setting as well.

This, and then assign a static ip to that machines mac address on your router's DHCP settings.

If you can't come right and you have a bit of time on your hands, try setting up Sonarr with qBittorent (uTorrent has too many ads these days) and then install Jackett to search across multiple torrent sites. I've had better success with torrents then use NZB as a fallback.

I also use Jackett, and Transmission QT as a torrent client.

Will try this out this weekend. Will this work with Deluge? Started using that a long time ago because it had a scheduler but that is not a big deal anymore (have fibre now).

Yeah, Sonarr supports Deluge so it will work. This is how I've got things set up.

Thanks for all the help guys. I reserved an IP for my pc on the local network, then set that IP in SABNZBD as the host IP and used it in the download client in Sonarr and now it works again. SABNZBD is warning that because I used an IP for the host I am allowing external access to the program, but if I change the host back to localhost Sonarr cannot connect, and I cannot connect on this PC to SABNZBD either by using IP:port in Chrome. Only with the IP set in SABNZBD does everything work. Is this an issue for external access and is there a way to improve this?

I also had to set a category otherwise the test fails.

No that is not the case. External access is only if the ports are open on your router. Just relax :)
