Okay so I've got a Hisense T36 series 3d led tv. The problem I'm having is connecting my sorround sound which is a samsung to play through the TV, I've tried all the HDMI ports, but still no sound is coming out. Ive done it before on another TV, but I'm unable to on the Hisense. Help please :)
Thanks.

If you already have a surround sound system, why then need the TV speakers to work as well?
Any surround system sounds much better without those pesky TV speakers...

Sorry if I'm not clear :)

I can't seem to get any sound from the external speakers. The TV speakers work fine.

Usually you would connect the HDMI from your blu-ray/dvd player to your Home theater amp as an input and then connect your TV via HDMI as an output from the amplifier.

Not all tv's have an Audio Out connection... HDMI, Analog or S/PDIF

Some only have inputs...

Check your TV model user manual, they should be clear on what can connect and how to connect...

If not, you might be able to use the Headphones connection, but sound will be inferior and distorted...

Which exact model of TV is it?

From what I can gather, it should have all the usual output connectors...

Then you need to match up with the Surround sound unit.... If they both have S/PDIF, go that route...

You will need to change the settings on the TV to specify that audio must go via external sound as well/only.

If you can specify exact model of TV as well as Samsung Surround sound unit, I can be more helpful..

Will do tonight. The TV doesn't have any external output settings. It does say dvi by one of the hdmi ports. What does that mean?

My DSTV sat box is connected to a home theatre amplifier. There is a HDMI cable that goes to the TV for the picture, but the sound comes out of the speakers connected to the home theatre amplifier. Afaik your signal source must supply the sound signal, not the TV

Your Samsung HiFi system as well as your TV would need to support ARC (Audio Return Channel) for this to work as you would like it to.

Unfortunately if it's a fairly cheap or old one this won't be the case.

Normally in the case of TV's ARC is only supported on one of the HDMI ports, not all of them.

The only other way would be to use the Optical Out on the TV (if it has one), or to run old fashioned RCA cables from it's TV Out (if it has one).

The sorround sound system does support this. Its a fairly new TV it has 3D, it has a HDMI port which says DVI, what does this mean?

dvi is for your pc connection

hdmi is for everything else that has hdmi

but yes your tv needs to support sounds output via hdmi as well

but i dont see the issue as most tvs i know support that where sound and video is played throught hdmi
