Guys please I am desperate I am in Vorna Valley Midrand and have been without Telkom service for 3 weeks.
The eventually come and fix it after phoning them 3 times a day every day.
Since they fixed it, I have been having constant disconnects on both voice and data and had to log a new fault.

I am no syncing at 1mb, down from 2mb.
Please can someone help me with details of a supervisor or manager to resolve this crap?

Thanks

As with most things - Call until you get hold of a"white person" I was lucky , after many unsuccessful attempts to find out when my land line was coming and being told "it is in progress", I heard the voice of intelligence on the other end who gave me details from when it would be installed to what time and the tech's cell number :)

Stop your debit order by your bank... thats the quickest way to get telkom to notice you.

A bit uncalled for, would I say?

I had my fair share of dealings with Telkom and I would say about 95% of the times I were very happy with the service I received. There were times that I also thought that the person on the other side was a moron, but you will get that in majority of customer related services. There will always be someone that is a bit better or go the extra mile to help and others won't. I do not think it is a colour issue?

Yes and 9 out 10 times that someone who wants to do their job is "wit, indian or coloured"

Do they not train these people?
Why must I phone 5 people first who all give me the same useless answer "it is in progress" and then I speak to white "oke" and I'm given more than I asked for - not 30min later.

Same thing when I deal with Pastel, Revelation and Accfin support - hear that lazy voice on the other end and you just have to sigh :(

you are 100% correct in saying it's finding someone who really wants to do their job.

Hey man! Sorry to hear about your woes. We went through this last year at our offices for three months until they found a faulty wire.

Basically you need to do a thorough search yourself and try and find if the wire is damaged or rusty or wet anywhere.

Also check for light fittings / automatic lights that could be close to the wire and interfering with it.

Good luck!

Sorry mate you just have to wait while they drag their heals, I had a do broadband account and told the woman behind the counter I want to close the Telkom ISP account because I have my own account, and specifically repeated this 3 times for clarity, my line was disconnected, I have wasted half the months ISP fees twidlling my thumbs waiting for a reconnect of my ADSL line.you phone one they refer you to another, never going back to the service outlet again.

When I applied for land line at a Telkom shop - service was top notch.
a Week later received a call from some company asking me" how service was at telkom shop"

Told them service is fine - but on calling telkom helplines "I received very little help" proceeded to explain my situation about trying to find out an eta for the line etc.
Person on the other end listens to me and then carries on with the questions :) in other words I don't care, not my "job"

they should have a company follow up on service and fault requests rather than bothering people with trivial krap about the local Telkom store and whether they had enough 3G and Modem advertising in the store!

That call was from an external, independent market research company. The person was not a Telkom employee... how were they meant to help you?

I also don't get what race has got to do with it? A moron is a moron, and believe me morons are pretty well represented across all races in South Africa. I've been helped by plenty of very helpful and competent black people and dealt with plenty of moronic white people in call centres.

I do: a "white" person is more likely to be more enthusiastic about getting the job done. Now that in itself may seem like a generalization, but then I can retort with another argument: A white person often speaks clearer english, which suits me better, and will often have a better education / IT general-knowledge/literacy.
Now say what you like, but if you want to argue this you'd be arguing out of ignorance which is fallacious emotional backlash. Truth of the matter is that if you get a white person on the other end, chances are you'll get better assistance. I don't like it like that, and I don't know what's to blame, but that's the fact. Let's do something about it - but to deny it because you think racism is bad is not a good start.

That's the problem - some "independent market research company" calling you - for what Questions where there modems in the store, did they offer 3G to you?

Who is paying these "independent market research companies" if not Telkom?

If it is Telkom then they should spend more money on training their employees and tech's rather than useless "market research" of a telkom store - don't you guys agree.

there are tons of threads here dealing with Telkoms ignorance and incompetence, it's like dealing with a Guv'ment department.

That's the problem .....

You live in East London - there's a nice big concrete tower in the middle of "town". Go there and complain as that's where most of the East London management are located!
