Good Day,

Does anyone know how to format the HDD in the DSTV UEC HD PVR? The PVR is getting stuck during playback of recorded movies and i hope it just needs a reformet to sort the problem with all the recordings and deletion over the last year. I live in Botswana and the nearest MC office is 600km from me and the help center never answer their phones :( If you've been or lived here you would understand :P

Thanks

Can't you do it using "PVR Clean Up"

Hi,

I've tried that but i still get the same problem, with the recorded movies getting stuck during playback. I'm told you can access a hidden menu via the decoder where you can format the HDD.

is ther not a problem with your LNB or the cable conected to the decoder from the LNB thats whty recordings are getting stuck?
check the signal quality on each of the LNB to see if one of them is having a problem

I doubt it has anything to do with the signal, if it records fine then playing it shouldn't be a problem
I'm also not sure a format will resolve it, there is a way to format by using the front panel buttons but if I was you I'd get it swapped out

It's a 10 hour round trip for me to drive to multichoice here in Botswana, I would prefer to try resolve the problem before I invest that time :(

Thanks Gambit, I've seen that web site and tried the process they have describe but it did not work for me maybe I did it wrong, as the "Exit" and "Guide are the same button on the UEC decoder. Maybe someone could simplify it for me :)

1. Hold Guide button for 5 seconds and release.
2. Press Shift, then Exit, then OK in quick succession.
3. Enter PIN 1649.
4. You can then restore factory settings and format HDD as described in the link above.

Thanks Quantum Theory, it worked great and the format helped with the playback of recordings :)

No problem. With the UEC, you have to add the Shift button into the sequence. The Pace 2P has a different sequence too...
