help with Vodafone E220

Help urgently needed. I just got a vodafone E220 usb modem. It's been flashed with Huawei software ( HOSTB107D05SP00C03 for winXP&2k&VISTA).
Loaded in on laptop( running Vista Home premium) with all drivers and HMC dashboard. connected to SP but does not receive any data.
Did windows network diagnotics test and come up with :
network diagnostics pinged the remote host buut did not receive a response

don't know if settings are correct.

Also, can tthe modem be reflashed? Read other threads about downloading
UTPSB002D03SP04C03 July update, but only see E220 Client Software UTPSB002D03SP16C03 for WinXP&2K&Vista (7115 KB) 20-Mar-2008 from Huawei site. would this work?

Load the official Vodacom software:- Either VMC Lite 3.2.1.156 which will flash onto the modem. Or load the VMC 9.3.0.9237 which works with Vista.

You can leave the Huawei dashboard on the E220, just update the firmware with this one for Vista from Vodacom.

In the Huawei dash set the Authentication number to *99***16# and leave the rest blank.. Thats the only settings you will need. Make sure you install the dash and firmware from the same release, it used to be two seperate installs(might still be) and I had some problems when mixing up different versions. You can also check your firewall, Bitdefender blocked my e220 because it was detected as an "unsecure" connection.
