Help with VPN please

Greetings all
I've got Vista with Outlook as my email client. Got a Telkom DSL line with telkom email adress. This works fine. I connect to my work server via a VPN from home. This works fine. I can send email, BUT cannot receive my work email. At work I can send and receive from both accounts.
What setting do I have to check up on in my VPN settings to be able to download my work adress email. Any suggestions. Thanks.

mmmm so you connecting to your work vpn were you would like to send and recieve your work email? It should be setup just how it is at work same server address and stuff ... I think

Check that you're getting work DNS addresses if you're on a domain to make sure your machine actually knows where to find your email server. Also set your connection to use either remote gateway or local gateway. You need to decide which suits you better.

Are you using Exchange? if so why not setup RPC/HTTP. That's the best way to get email remotely it simply creates a local copy of your mailbox.

If you are not getting work DNS settings when you VPN in then add the servers to your LMHOSTS file with their IP addresses as well as to your HOSTS file.
