Help with Windows 7 RAID problem

Hi guys,

I've got a problem and I need some help. I reloaded my PC with RAID, dual boot of XP 32 bit and Win 7 64 bit 7048 build. I have 2x250GB that I made into RAID 0 with 2 partitians (Shows as D: and F: ) and a spare 500GB for storage. (shows as C:). Loaded XP on the D partitian of the RAID and Win 7 on the F:

On XP the Array's partitian's and 500GB shows up fine, all good. But on Win 7 it only shows the Array and the 500GB doesn't show at all!!!

Any idea's what is can be? I have loaded all the SATA/mobo drivers etc...Should I reload and put Win 7 on the 500GB?

Anyone had this problem before? I've not used RAID in years and never used Vista (besides installing and uninstalling it a couple years ago when it caused nightmares for me)
 
Configure your RAID setup using the utility from the POST... Most new M/boards have that function...
 
Configure it? The RAID array is showing in Win 7, just not the spare 500GB that is not part of the array.
 
mmmm... That is kinda weird... In your BIOS, have you checked that your S-ATA settings are correct... Maybe not te be on Legacy, or change it from IDE to RAID. Something like that...
 
sometime i heard or read about windows 7 having problems with allocating drive letters to drives..i could be wrong but check into that.

Thats the funning thing. It shows, sort of, will double check, since I'm at work. But it shows as a drive //?/something or another.

When installing Win 7 it showed the 500GB RAID (2x250's) split partitian and the sperate 500BG as install location options, just not in My computer. The disk management I need to double check, but I remmeber is was there, but it wasn't, if you know what I mean; wasn't showing as a usable disc, like its a phantom.
 
Just make sure in Disk Management if it actually did assign a drive letter... Have noticed that Win7's Disk Management takes a bit longer than Vista's to open up... But it would probably be fixed before an RC or Final of Win7 is out...

could be the problem.
 
So what if Win 7 didn't assign a drive letter? Reinstall? or just hot swap it t another SATA port and hope it assigns one?
