Help with XBMC

I just installed xbmc on a laptop - but for some reason its only picking up some of the movies in my movies folder.

Eg i go to the file list, open the folder, it shows no files. In windows of course i can see the content, and play it with vlc.

Why would it not show the files or enable me to add the stuff to the library?

Are you looking in Video->Library->Files or in Movies->Titles? If it is the latter, then XBMC is probably not identifying the movie title correctly and downloading the metadata. If the former, then see what happens if you run XBMC as admin. It might be a permissions problem with the files. Also, is there anything different with the file extensions of the movies that are not showing up?

Thanks, permissions problem with the files.

Windows doesnt like to share subfolders with special characters like [].

So weired that i could see the folder, but not its content.
