Hey guys,

Ok so I'm looking at buying an LCD screen for my xbox 360 but I wanna know if it is possible to plug the xbox into a screen and then into say a stereo system for sound? What I've found so far is that if I buy a screen (such as the Samsung 2494HS) with speakers and HDMI then the cable will carry the sound too and play through the speakers. So if I buy a screen without speakers how would I set this up? which cables would I need?

Thanks

Also which screen would you guys recommend?

No worries mate. Using a VGA cable makes it possible to use seperate sound. If you want to use HDMI, you can use it with the component cable. You will notice that the component cable and the HDMI cable wont fit in the Xbox together. Go and Google for this, you will see instructions to pop off the cover of the component cable's plug, making both fit easily. Either way, you can do it any way you want.

Oh and I recommend any HD screen, otherwise you will have 2 black bars on the top and bottom of the screen to make a 16:10 screen display only 16:9 in the correct ratio. So go and get the 2494HS, you WILL NOT REGRET IT.

By the way, don't worry about 23.6 inches being too small, it's perfect. The quality was better on my 2494HS than it is on my 32" SAMSUNG.

ok thanks :D was looking at that cos then the sound can be played through the screen :D was also wondering would I be able to plug a PC and the xbox in that screen simultaneously? :D

Also would like to know if the samsung 23333 SW would be a great monitor? cos its going for quite a steal in the IC special thing :D

I got myself the 2494HS and it works great with my Xbox360. It's a lot easier to connect external speakers if you get the 2494HS. You just connect the VGA cables audio jack into audio input on the screen and connect any speakers/headphones to the audio output.

Works well.

Oh ok sweet ended up getting some Acer with audio and sound out :D

Check out Incredible connections tradein your old monitor deal, you can get a 27" for R2700.
