Hi there can anyone advise on the swapout procedure.

Just read some posts about there being a change in the swap out procedure, it not being the same as in 2008? Just got the RROD with secondary error code 0102. I have the proof of purchase still.

What are the steps I should follow. Also I purchased it in December 2007, can I still have it replaced?

Thanks

Power Care handles swap outs.

If bought in Dec 07, 3 year warranty expires Dec 2010.

If you feel your Xbox 360 hardware is faulty, here are the steps to have your unit repaired or replaced:

* Step 1: Phone Microsoft Xbox Technical Help on: 0800 991-550 from 10am - 6pm, Monday - Friday. They will troubleshoot your problem and if they feel a solution cannot be found, they will supply you with a reference number. They will also ask to register your console, so look up your serial number before phoning in.
* Step 2: Powercare looks after all Xbox warranty claims in South Africa, and will deal with your replacement. You have a few ways of completing the replacement procedure, and in all cases you should have your issued reference number from step 1, along with your console's serial number at hand:
o Contact them by phone on 0861 XB0X-360 / 0861 926-9360 or 011 997-5000
o Or, Download the Warranty Procedure Claim Form and either email it to [email protected]
o Or Fax it to:
+ 086 629-8599
+ 086 686-9058
+ 086 523-3300
+ 086 682-3488
+ 086 553-7406
+ 086 562-2078
+ 086 579-2212
+ 086 579-2213
+ 086 579-2215
+ 086 579-2214
* Step 3: When stock becomes available, a courier will deliver the replacement Xbox 360 unit directly to you. Only the actual console will be replaced, so remove your hard drive and any other peripherals, including cables. (If you're lucky, you may receive a Jasper unit as replacement, therefore, you should receive a new power adapter as well)

If stock is available, you should be issued with a new console fairly quickly, however, turn-around times can be as much as 1 month when there's a shortfall.

A reconditioned one or NEW?

A reconditioned one or NEW?

It used to be new consoles a few years ago, but now all replacements seem to be reconditioned units. Just make sure that you take note if your unit has a HDMI slot; I've heard of some people that have swopped out a console with a HDMI slot, and received one without. Then again, you could get a unit back with a HDMI slot, when you didn't have in the first place.

I received my replacement console on friday. Also how do you know if its new or refurbished? Is a refurbished unit cause for concern? will it fail?

Er, I just sent my girlfriend to powercare to swop it out, they did it over the counter... shes hot by the way :D
