Need some help here.

If I buy xbox games from overseas, will it work on consoles in SA?

Games in HK are so much cheaper.

HK are NTSC so no they won't work.

You get NTSC (US, Asia)
and then you get PAL (US, AUS, EU and the rest)...

Some are region free

if you look properly locally you can find people selling new games sealed PAL for R350, that is as cheap if not cheaper than buying from overseas.
go the the xbox360 forum and see whats there - i got most of my games new sealed for under R300

There is a list you need to get .
Cause some games are region free , so it will work on some console ect.

BUT CHECK THE LIST !

ok so according to that list, Gears of War (US, Asia, Europe and Japan versions) all work on NTSC/J systems. So does this mean that the version the local retail stores sell will work on my ntsc/j system? even though it says "PAL" on the cover ?

My wife bought "Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2" in Malaysia (NTSC) and it's working on my Xbox360 (PAL). The salesperson she spoke to said, don't worry, even though it says NTSC on the box it will work on your PAL xbox. I don't know if it's just for this one game...

Great game...

oh and she also brought a Wii along. Great fun...

ok so my best bet is to either rent or borrow the games before actually buying it...any idea if blockbuster or any of the other video stores rent xbox 360 games?

Where are you located? The Tradestation stores in Cape Town in Sable Square and Parklands rent out 360 games.

im in durban...the video stores here suck so methinks theres a very slight chance of them renting out x360 games
