Hi. I picked up a cheap Redmi K20 Pro but it had a custom rom I did not like. I used the Mi Flash tool to install a stock rom and after booting up it shows this screen. What is this and any suggestions on how to fix it?

Which ROM exactly did you install and what hapens if you poke one of those buttons? I've used the Mi Flash tool a few times in the past couple of months with no problems.

I think it was a Chinese Rom. Thanks I actually just did the same thing with Google Translate.

I installed a Chinese ROM a few weeks ago (there wasno Global out at that point) but it had Engish subtext and immediately allowed me to switch language to English, so it was no problem

Looks like your device has only Chinese or Indian variants as stock, that may be why it had a custom ROM on. You could try get some info on the Indian ROM, maybe it's released in English. Otherwise seek another custom ROM.

Phone is linked to some elses (sellers) MI account (which they linked to the phone to unlock the bootloader to load their crap rom). Its the equivalent of icloud locked and you are pretty much screwed

Would OP be able to load a custom ROM in this case (unless he selected to relock the bootloader when flashing back to MIUI.......)?

I did not relock the bootloader, but the TWRP recovery is gone.
Maybe try the MIUI Indian ROM, I suppose you need to re-enable ADB before being able to flash another recovery?

EDIT: that won't help either, you'll still have the locked MI account problem...

Indian rom could not flash, so I flashed a global rom. The same message pops up but just in English this time. Will try to load a custom rom when I get a chance. Thank you for all the feedback.

You can reflash TWRP recovery with adb while the phone is in fastboot mode, usually in recovery it will allow you to mount the storage and you can copy your new custom ROM over.
Unfortunately, this is the only way to use the phone if it has been Mi Account Locked

Just pray the bootloader wasnt accidently relocked with all the flashing going on.

I once brought back a bunch of chinese Redmis in a suitcase from China.

I had to do the whole associate with MI account thing in order to gain permission to unlock the bootloader after which the global rom was flashable and the devices then saleable.

I did the following to ensure my customers never had the OPs issue in the future

1. Made a multitude of MI accounts, one per phone which I used to unlock BL.

2. Removed the MI account association with the device after flashing the global rom.

3. Did a factory reset to ensure devices was bootable without asking for MI account details, to confirm successfull disassociation with those MI accounts

4. Kept a large spreadsheet with IMEIs and respective MI accounts, for just in case. Never actually even needed to use it once after the phones were sold, as steps 2 and 3 ensured this problem would never occur.

So in the end I did this and installed Pixel Experience rom, which is quite good and doesn't have some of the issues that the previous custom rom had. Guess I'll just carry on using it with a custom rom.
