Good day!

I'm trying to get connected at home and I'm currently thinking along the routes of i-Burst 3gig.

Does anybody have experience with i-Burst (pro's & cons)?
can anyone suggest a replacement if i-Burst is not the best product out there (I'm looking at a price of less than R700/month)?

Let me know and thanks for the interest shown.

welcome to myadsl

answer depends on what do you want to use your internet connection for. downloading, gaming, browsing & email, voip???

btw. you can get an ADSL connection for less than that. i recommend openweb. it is run by a fellow forumite called MrBEEP.

Hi, and welcome.

As has been said many times before, it all depends on what you want to do with your connection, and your location in relation to the towers.. I use mine for downloads (non-P2P), the odd game of Civilization 4, and Skype/IM. I have no problems. However, I'm also only 2 kms from the nearest tower.

Spend some time going through the older posts in this forum. The answers posted here are very relevant to your question, and the archive has a wealth of information that may well be missed here.

I must admit, I have never had a problem with Iburst.

I am in the unfortunate situation of moving from Midrand (5 light coverage) to Winchester Hills (0 light coverage).

According to Ibursts Maps they will have a tower up some time soon so i am holding out for it. There is no way on this green planet i am going to apply for a Hellkom ADSL account.

It took me 1 email to cancel my Iburst and get refunded for the unused bandwidth. You cannot image the pain of having to go back to dialup, and 5 mins a day just to check email.

Just make sure you have an ok connection in your area first.

Sincerely,

Medic

if you want speed then use iburst, if you looking for low latency and good pings use adsl

What area are you in? There are resellers who will come and test your signal strength and speed at no cost. <deleted by="ic" reason="blatant free advertising"/>
