I'm a new DSL384 subscriber, but have been using the T-zone for free at Melrose Arch for about 6 months now. This is supposed to be a 512 ADSL line, but browsing with my laptop, I discovered that my download speeds were about 100-120k/sec, using DAP!!! This speed maintains local as well as international! I have so far downloaded about 30Gb using this service, each time registering for a free 2 hour account. Makes you wonder how uncapped and unshaped 512ADSL would be like hey???[:(!]

When Telkom read this they will place a cap on T-Zone.

lol

Telkom will learn the hard way! We need to make sure of that...

Keep the chin up and smile when you see a Telkom truck. Smile like you would if you were saying goodbye to somebody you don't like very much.... A nod of the head will also do. Bye bye Telkom....

Cheers
Antowan

### What we need in South Africa is cheap 24/7, always on Internet for under R300 a month. ###

telkom is just hearing tick tock tick tock of the clock ticking to an interesting time for them,

but then with Nexus stuffing on they seem to have received a stay on their execution.

how is it that a Father and Son (as i understand it) with no bank balance and only basically a BEE label tied to the company can put everything hold for the entire country because they dont like the way the minister made her decision.

A point i have made on other threads george.
Its amazing, or stupid, or ridiculous and i wonder how its allowed to happen. Too much bending over backwards just so you don't p*ss off a BEE company?
I don't have all the facts, but it does seem a bit odd don't you think?

I've always thought it's kind-of weird. We live in a country that knows first-hand the dangers with regard to racial inequality.

We have a constitution that sez that there will be no discrimination based on gender, race or religion.

I've always wondered how the blazes affirmative action and black economic empowerment gels with that. It doesn't make sense to me at all.

Telkom se ma...

How much money you spend on coffee and muffins at the T-Zone? So... your connectivity's not really free... [;)]

I'll drink crap coffee & stale muffins all day for 30gigs. In fact there's notalot i won't do 4 more bandwidth. [:D]

I looked up the answer to that question many years ago as I was met with that problem back in 1997. It also puzzled me until I read the facts. Affirmative action is the only form of discrimination allowed in South Africa and it is stated in almost as many words as that. Oh, and it also makes provision for reclaiming property (see below), even though you may think it is "yours".[;)]
