Here we go... Zuma ruling expected any moment now!

SA waits for Zuma ruling

Durban - The best legal minds have been heard on whether the Scorpions decision to prosecute African National Congress (ANC) president Jacob Zuma was legal, but on Friday it will be their turn to listen as Judge Chris Nicholson hands down his decision.

In fact, the whole nation will be listening and waiting for the news out of Pietermaritzburg High Court A.

Irrespective of the decision, police will be on high alert while the media conveys to the public Nicholson's decision on Zuma, the man next in-line for the country's presidency.

But I guess it will all be dependant on whether Chris Nicholson can withstand the pressure of the ANC/COSATU threats or the bribery of the Zuma-people... :eek:

Yeah I'm glad I'm not him. He must've had some pretty interesting phone calls and mail lately.
 
What I'm afraid of, is IF his application is approved, people will jump up saying the judiciary has been comprimised (sp?), forgetting he has a VERY good legal team.

Only phone calls and mail?

I reckon he's received a little more than just those. Body parts on the bonnet of his car, chopped up family and friends, I reckon he could have received a few of those too. Maybe I've just seen too many movies :p

I don't think so. The Judge will articulate his ruling exceptionally well. A decision to dismiss the case (on all charges) will not be taken lightly, and the judge will explain his decision thoroughly.

That said, I don't think the case will be thrown out. I just hope that the Zuma freaks willing to take up arms and "eliminate the forces" are in a minority...
 
If they get violent I don't think the police will hesitate to shoot to kill/maim. Unless of course Mbeki says..."I don't have an opinion of that" :D

Yes I do find it strange that the leader of the ANC who is suppose to be pro BEE has white lawyers.I mean how hypocritical can you get?
 
it's inetersting how those not versed in matters of law see a verdict in zuma's favour as a sign of something gone wrong with the justice system. while there are some who see the opposite judgement meaning the same thing. i guess justice only works when it serves our own personal views.

do you also find it strange that companies run by the likes of tokyo have white executives?

Since when does one choose lawyers based on AA/BEE? Zuma is neither a company nor are those lawyers his employees. AA and BEE legislation only applies to companies of a certain minimum size/turnover, unless I'm missing something.

Yes you are missing something.

The ANC (tax payer) is paying for Zuma's defence, and any legal firm doing business with the state needs to be BEE compliant - these legal firms may have a few dummy posts filled to be compliant.

But the state does not hire the legal firm, Zuma does this in his own personal capacity. If the state had a say on who represents Zuma I'm sure they would have refered him to legal aid:D

By the way, I think Michael Hulley (Zuma's attorney) is not white, but I could be wrong, he could just have been sun-burned:D)
